The Office Depot Small Business Index shows small businesses are increasing in the use of remote work places. The survey was conducted from June 21, 2011 to June 29, 2011 will 1104 small and medium business being interviewed.
The survey reported 66% of those interviewed were able to conduct part or all of their job away from the office. Of these, 85% were able to work from their homes.
More than 40% who work remotely were required to work the same hours as they would if working in the office to insure their customers were able to still receive quality customer service. With 21% who work remotely were actually working longer hours than if they worked in the office.
